You Just Never Know

You just never know what life will hand you, from day to day. I returned from Arkansas, to some sad and troublesome news. My father-in-law had just been diagnosed with cancer.
stage-4 Adenocarcinoma Cancer , which has metastasized into his brain. This is also known as NSCLC, or non small cell lung cancer. It is, once it becomes metastasized, a fast growing and generally fatal form of cancer.
Here is an 80 year old robust man who takes no prescription drugs, has been healthy as a horse for decades, and was, and still is outwardly, a picture of health. He did however smoke, almost 40 years ago.
For my wife's family, and for us, the journey we will be taking with my father-in-law, for ever how long he has left, will be a difficult one. We pray God to give him and all of us the strength to face it bravely.
I lost a brother to cancer 26 years ago, when he was only 28, so I've traveled this road before.
You just never know.
