TAKIN A BREAK

Once a year, every year for the last 12 to 15 or so, I take a break from the hassles and tribulations of every day life, and head to the beautiful state of Arkansas. My good friends Steve and Linda, who, used to live here in Illinois, where I do, moved to Eureka Springs Arkansas almost 18 years ago....(jeez, time flies). They own their own small business in the town, and live a somewhat idyllic life a few miles out in the hills.

Anyway, I'm down there for a 3 or 4 day quickie dose of relaxation. As you can see from the photo, it usually involves running ATV's in the hills, trout fishing, kite flying, (no kiddin), all done with the aid of a few cold ones!

One of the stops we made this year was at the ROARING RIVER HATCHERY. It is a trout hatchery, not too far away from Eureka Springs, located at the base of a small mountain, from which flows a surprisingly large spring. The spring provides the water and it's natural flow velocity, which is perfect for the trout. The spring is also the source of the "Roaring River".

Trout are constantly released from the hatchery, into the river. You can purchase license for a day, or several! Lots of cool fun!
I've been back for two days now. Back to the daily grind, but with great memories of hangin out in Arkansas! (still finding ticks and chiggers too!)
