GOOD BYE AND GOOD LUCK. WELCOME BACK!

Bill, Joan, and Jerry are senior citizens. All three of them live in the Bangor Maine area. They are fairly typical folks. In their seventies, and still fairly active despite the infirmities that come to people their age. However, what is different about these folks, is their passion and commitment to our armed forces. They are part of a group of citizens that call themselves the "MAINE TROOP GREETERS".
Bangor Maine airport is the last airport that most US troops see, before they deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan. And, it is the first US airport that most of troops coming back from that theater of combat see.
Bill, Joan, and Jerry, have been greeting troops leaving and coming back since 2003. Nearly 900,000 of them so far. Despite their age and health issues, they arrive at the airport at all times of the day or night. In any kind of weather. They are there to greet our young men and women as the leave to go in harms way, and when they arrive back on US soil. They provide a friendly face, warm greetings, conversation, coffee doughnuts, and cell phones that the troops can use free to call anywhere in the US.
Their story is both heart warming, and heart wrenching. It intertwines their personal lives with their dedication to our toops. And, it is definitely worth the watch. It will make you smile, and If you are like me, you'll shed a tear or two.
