MARCH16, 2016 - THIS N' THAT

Well, it's Wednesday morning March 16, 2016. The day after the second super Tuesday in this presidential election cycle.  There is only one election cycle that I remember, that displayed some of the extremes that we are seeing in today's election cycle  The protesting and the violence that broke out this year at a Trump rally in Chicago Illinois, brought to mind the 1968 Democratic national convention which also took place in Chicago.  The violence, and the head cracking done by the Chicago police in 1968 made the protest this past month in Chicago seem like a cakewalk. However, the images in 2016, were no less disturbing than the images I vividly recall from1968.
All of this should really cause us to stop and give serious thought to what direction we as citizens might be allowing this country to take, when we all go to the voting booth this November.
Will we continue to be the nation that so many other countries around the world respect and rely upon  to uphold and promote democratic principles, or will we become the isolated, divisive, and hateful nation that some presidential candidates so fervently desire. Other nations have gone down this road, with disastrous results, for themselves, and the rest of the world.
It is up to us.
