I believe, that in my entire life that I have never witnessed one of our two major political parties self-destruct. But here we are in 2016, and the Republican Party is on fire. It took The Republican Party nearly 8 years to accomplish this, in spite of the fact that they had a landslide victory in the 2010 midterm elections, and gained control of the Senate as well as the house, and they squandered that.It began the day that Barack Obama was elected POTUS. The republicans in the Senate and the house of representatives, had such hate and loathing for President Barack Obama, that it blinded them totally. They were in capable of allowing any legislation put forward by the president, or the Democratic Party for that matter, to pass. It didn't matter what the legislation was about, it didn't matter if it was good or bad all that mattered was that President Barack Obama was behind it. It's no wonder the electorate is angry! Absolutely nothing of any consequence has been accomplished in the last seven years. And yet Republicans decry that the gridlock is entirely because of President Barack Obama. There is one thing that Republican Senators and representatives are very good at. That one thing is VOTING NO, and then blaming the other guy because they said no. I also believe that Donald Trump is a direct result of the decision the Republican Party elite made to put Sarah Palin up as a candidate for vice president. She was the first, and the original batshit wingnut! She still is for that matter. John McCain trotted her out on stage, and I'm sure, 30 seconds after she opened her mouth, and if you had put a camera McCAin's face, he would have had the same "deer-in-the-headlights" look on his face that Chris Christie's face had whiles tanning behind Trump, listening to his bloviating over a primary success. Palin was the lid on the Pandora's box of political incorrectness. All of a sudden it was OK to say exactly what you felt like. It didn't matter who you were disparaging, or what group you were hating. It was OK. Now, look we are where we are at! What is even more frightening, is the fact that so many self proclaimed Republican citizens are buying into the bigotry, and the hatred. It's like we all fell down the 'rabbit-hole', and came out in 1939 when individuals like Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini came into power. They preached the same crap. They fired up citizens who are angriest at ineffectual government, found a group to hang it all on, and rode the wave of anger, into power.
Will the GOP survive? They have no one to blame but themselves. When they made it their goal to stop government for eight years, the villagers finally got out the pitchforks and torches out, and there will be hell to pay. Unfortunately, it will be all of us that have to pay for it.
