I traveled to Northwestern Arkansas, last weekend, as I do every year about this time. Eureka Springs to be precise. For those of you who may not know, Eureka Springs, which is a beautiful bed/breakfast town, full of all kinds of shops, and artists. Much like Galena Illinois, and it is approx 65 miles south and just a smidgen west of Branson Missouri. Our friends Steve and Linda live a few miles outside of Eureka Springs. They have been down there for many years. It is truly a beautiful part of our country, and I really love visiting them down there. If my wife wasn't such a 'citified' gal, I wouldn't mind living down there at all.
We usually spend time in the woods, running around on ATVs, fishing, or hunting Morels, better known as 'shroomin'. This year, surprisingly, they were in short supply. Either that, or they were hiding even more cleverly than usual. At any rate, there were few to be had on this particular weekend. I've posted a very short video on the first one I found, and a pic of the fruits of the day's labor. They are incredibly delicious little devils, whether you bread them and fry them in butter, or saute them in a little olive oil and white wine. Fortunately for me, my friends had netted lots of these beauties in the previous weeks, and they kindly allowed me to gobble this little batch up with my breakfast eggs! Mmmmm Good!
If you ever get down that way, I'm sure you will agree it is a great place to visit, or vacation.
