This weekend, 6/04 through 6/07, I on my annual pilgrimage to the Eureka Springs Arkansas area.
Good friends Steve and Linda reside in this beautiful bucolic area. And I escape to their friendly confines every year, (since 11 or 12 years), for a long weekend.
This weekend, a special treat. Steve & Linda have an adult pair of Saluki dogs, which produced a litter in the spring of 2009. Two yearling's remain, along with the parents. Today, the two pups were qualified at a AKC sanctioned lure course. It was great fun watching these "sight" hounds chase the lure. In addition, I've seen Afghan hounds, Ibesin Hounds, Rhodesian Ridge Back Hounds, Whippets, and Egyptian Pharaoh Hounds, all chase the lure. Tomorrow, The two pups compete for the first time.... I get the privilege of being a handler, and the responsibility of releasing the dog at the call of "Tallyhoe" by the Hunt Master.....
GREAT FUN!!!
stay tuned, we'll see how I do as a handler tomorrow.... When I get home, I'll try to post some photos!
